iPhone/Watch Maps

I like to use my iPhone and car mount for directions, but don't want my watch to be taken over by maps. Is there a way to prevent maps from starting on the Apple Watch when using maps on the iPhone? If so, can someone let me know how I would do that.

Just don't use Apple maps. If you use Google or Wase or anything else then it won't do anything on your Watch.

Apple Watch app on iPhone. Notifications > Maps > Deselect Turn Alerts. Also, under Maps, deselect Show in Glances and Turn Alerts.

I already had maps off in glances. Turning off "turn-by-turn" was all I needed to do.

I was unsure at first how I felt about maps on my watch but not having to look at anything has been great. I've learned the taps and just drive. No sound from the phone anymore. If needed a quick glance to verify but otherwise taps covers my needs.
