I have an unhacked iPhone which I used in the States until Oct 10, when I moved to Egypt.

I had the service turned off prior to departing for Egypt.

Since I landed and right up to a few days ago the WiFi along with internet browsing and email and YouTube all worked just fine.

All of a sudden when I boot the iPhone it tells me "waiting for activation" which I dismiss.

So now the WiFi doesn't work. The carrier (the Air Port like icon next to "No Service") shows data is being carried. But no web pages resolve and the display says the "server could not be found."

I am only trying to use the iPhone like an iPod Touch and use the Wifi, not hack or compromise any agreement or warrantee.

The camera, iPod, clock, etc. continue to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to use the WiFi feature on an iPhone with its ATT service turned off?
