Hi there!
Recently I've set out to solve a problem I have been having for a long time.
I have my phone and iTunes all set up to perform WiFi syncing over my home network. My PC is on a wired connection to the router, and my iPhone is obvious wirelessly connected to the router. I cannot connect to the WiFi on my PC because for some reason, it will not work ("Limited Access") although if I do connect to WiFi, the iPhone will appear under devices and I can wirelessly sync.

The solution would seem obvious, that I should just connect to both wired and wifi, but many times I have actually seen the device come up under "Devices" and been able to sync it whilst the PC is not connected to WiFi, so I know that it is perfectly capable of performing the sync with my normal set up.

Hopefully this all makes sense, if you need any additional info just ask! I'm determined to get this fixed once and for all!

U lost me.

Subject says ur having some sort of problem with WIFI sync,

then in the body you say it works. Or maybe it doesn't work under certain conditions but am not sure.

"limited access" means your network is not set up correctly, typically when PC is unable to get a proper IP from the DHCP. Typically when your PC is hardwired to the WIFI router that's all you need, a separate WIFI connection between PC and WIFI router would be superfluous and *may* confuse the network as there will be more than 1 path for PC to get to other devices and that's not right.

My suggestion is, fix "limited access" problem first before proceeding to next task.

Okay, here it all is in bullet points:
  • iPhone connected via WiFi to router
  • PC connected via ethernet to router
  • Sometimes it will sync over wifi
  • Sometimes it will not

Perfect.

Because I've been looking at this for months, iPhone WIFI sync is a hit & miss deal. Feels like a half-baked "feature." Google and look at the the official Apple forum, no official fix, lots of try this and try that. SAD.
