It would look so cool ,, very dissapointed about not having the choice ,,sure new gold pink for girls ,,but what about cool guys that want the real all black iPhone and a bit of silver Chrome on it ,,nothing wrong with that
I say they would fly off the shelf ,, not sure who decides the new colours at apples ,,but like they have a white one ,a gold one ,a gold pink one ,,and a half black one ,,to me most guys have only 1 choice half black,

Space Gray is the color now closest to black because that was Apple's solution to scuffgate with the iPhone 5. Simply lighten the color and the scratches/scuffs disappear.

Now, that's just my opinion, but I don't think I'm wrong on it.

Bear in mind that around here, this topic (color) and topics concerning the use or non-use of cases generate a lot of opinionated posts (and I include myself in that).

If you really want black though, there's a firm in La Puente, California called Neucase who will anodize a case for you in the color you want and replace your current case with that. They send you back your original case for warranty purposes. Costs about $300.

PS. I'm not crazy about the chrome on the 4/4s. I much prefer the matte black of the iPhone 5 and that was the single biggest reason I skipped the 4/4s entirely and held my upgrade for the 5.

Space gray is what everyone gets for all the whining about the black iPhone 5.

I owned Android devices when the 5 was released. Why were people complaining about the 5? The color looks nice.
Also, I would prefer a black on the 7. Space Grey on the 5S is nice too. the current 6 series space grey is eh, but it's no biggie really.

It does look nice.

Unfortunately, Apple chose to not anodize the metal very deeply. Aluminum scratches. When that aluminum is a Black/Slate iPhone 5 and the anodization process is not that deep you get silvery/white scratches on a black surface.

Aluminum is also a soft metal. Dings, knicks and scratches were happening to expensive iPhones.

When it happens out of the box because the build process was poor people get angry. And they start complaining. And a lot of them come here with their complaints.

It was not uncommon to have threads here about people who went through six brand new iPhone 5 boxes before they settled for the one that was scratched/dinged/knicked the least.

It came to be known as Scuffgate. And we have Space Gray because of it now - not black.

Here: 187 pages (over 4650 comments) of merged Scuffgate posts.

They complained because "slate grey" shows nicks & scratches very easily AKA scuffgate if you search.

Space grey does not show them as much, so it was the band aid. I wish SG goes away and we can get an all black ip7!

Neucase is proof that Apple could have done a better job instead of going Space Gray.

We'll get all black again if Apple goes back to glass. Which they should. Dropping your phone is much easier to avoid than scuffgate.

is there any proof that apple will be dropping aluminum this time around? and if they are, what material could they go for?
