Carrier Iphone without data plan on ATT?

I have 2 iphones with ATT on unlimited data plan. The third line has a dummy phone with blocked internet. How soon ATT will catch up if I trim that card and put it in ATT Iphone 5 or 5s? I would like to avoid paying for limited data on third line.

Yes they will detect it in a month or max two months. I did that with my sons phone, added a non smartphone line, put data block on the line, and then put the sim in an iPhone 5s. Worked for little over a month and got the text that they added a data plan for our convenience

I dumped them and moved to Tmo soon after. Can't be happier with the service and the much cheaper pricing. ATT did me a big favor forcing my hand.

The system will detect it. Sometimes it's fast other times it can take months.

Although at&t will add the data plan as a "convenience'" after a month or so, you can get a goPhone line for $30/mo that has unlimited talk/text. Theres also at&t's Cricket that has it for $25/mo. If the person doesn't talk/text that much on that line, try getting the $10/mo plan from air voice wireless, it comes with 250min or 500texts or any combination of those.
