Hello...

I have a first generation iPhone that I'd like to use as an iPod touch. The sim card is missing though. Can this be done? When I fire it up I get a "no sim card" message that I cannot get past. iTunes says the same thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

OS X desktop at home.

i will assume it was bought on att.

you can get past that screen by buying a att activation sim from ebay ($1) OR hacktivating it. Or borrow a friends sim for a second to activate it.

I think the first gen iPhone can only be activated by the sim that originally activated it and can't be hacktivated.

The original iphone can be hacktivated. Ive done it a few years ago when I bought one off ebay and stupidly restored the firmware to use it on tmobile. You basically have to jailbreak the phone.

I havent done it recently so i dont know the correct steps to take.
