iPhone wont charge or sync

A few days ago while walking through the rain, my iPhone must have a gotten a little damp in my pocket. For a while it would randomly flash the "this peripheral is not supported" warning, even with nothing plugged into the connector. This then stopped and things appeared fine, however today my iPhone won't charge or sync.

Any ideas?
