Iphone won't connected to bluetooth in car

Last year I upgraded my car to a jvc head unit with bluetooth and never had any problems connecting my 4s. Now the iPhone 5 is stuck searching for devices. Any advice?
 
Same thing happened in my BMW with the stock Harmon Kardon head unit. I had to delete my previous pairing. Once I did that I did a new pairing and everything was fine.
