Iphone wont turn on past apple logo, wont connect to itunes, and on/off button busted

My iphone wont turn on at all, but when I plug it in to charge the apple logo will come on. Then after about 10-20 seconds the logo will just fade away. My computer doesnt recognize the device, and pressing the home button does nothing to turn it on. The only time the logo comes on is the first seconds after i plug it in to charge. I have read other threads recommending me to do things that require using the on/off top button but that button on my phone doesnt work. So I don't know what to do PLEASE help

it's a 3G? Time to replace it with a $49 3GS or maybe a new IP4.

yeah its a 3g. im trying to hold out until the end of summer, when my contract ends

so nothing was working, and i decided to drop my phone off the couch. you may not believe me, but it worked. after dropping it, i connected it to my comp. and it was recognized. caveman style hopefully it last till i can upgrade
