I had my iPhone on charge overnight last night and when I woke up this morning, my iPhone was off. I tried to turn it on which didn't happen, and I tried holding the home button and lock button for 10 seconds but it wouldn't do anything either. I plugged it into my Macbook Pro and it said it has detected an iPhone in restore mode or something along them lines. It suggested I restore which I clicked accept, but after a 30 minute process it said it was unable to restore. What is wrong and what else can I try to fix it?

Details:
iPhone 4s
Not Jailbroken

Update: I have my phone plugged into my Macbook Pro through the Apple USB lead, it does not turn on still but now when I hard reset the Apple light comes up and it looks like its about to turn on, but then the Apple light just slowly fades and dies. However the backlight is still on and it keeps repeating to try and load itself, any ideas?
