iPhone Won't Unlock to Answer Calls

I know this has been discussed before, but has anyone found a solution to the issue of the iPhone not unlocking to answer calls? Someone suggested toggling the vibrate button to "wake up" the phone, but that only seems to work 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time I am just sitting there frustrated as I feverishly try to slide the lock button over to not avail. After the call is missed, the slide lock works just fine.

Very frustrating...

I can't pinpoint exactly how long, a year maybe? Yes, I have hard rebooted and even did a restore recently (different reason).
