My original iPhone has developed a fault in that it thinks the headphones are always plugged in. I can't use the internal ear-piece to make a call and whenever I adjust the volume is says:

ringer (headphone)

I can't use the speaker phone to play music.

I imagine that somewhere along the line the iPhone thinks the headphones are still plugged in either a firmware glitch or the sensor has failed. I have cleaned out the headphone socket and that is fine. I had restarted the phone with not improvement and I will try a full restore tonight.

I am off to an Apple store to pick up the new 3G iPhone tomorrow, do you think my current phone is sulking?

Has anyone else ever seen this problem? I think I may have heard about it before but not 100% sure.

Thanks.

Well I managed to fix it, I plugged / unplugged my headphones repeatedly and it is OK now.

Thanks for you your help

Oh wait.....

:D
