iPhone X 2x zoom?

Hello,

I haven't been able to buy the iPhone X yet, but i was able to fiddle with it at a local store today. Great phone!

Tried out the camera but to my surprise the 2x zoom isn't utilizing the second camera? As far as i can tell the 2x is just a digital zoom from the wide angle camera, i tried putting my finger over each camera but it refused to use the second one while zooming unlike the 8 plus. What is up with that?

The wide angle camera performs much better in low light. Apple has programmed the system to determine whether the telephoto camera or the wide angle with digital zoom will produce the better shot given shooting conditions, and select that automatically. That’s what’s happening. Go out side and it will pick the actual telephoto lens.
