They must have faith in their inventory to advertise this hard.
Apple has the hard data, my guess besides the US where I am guessing 95%+ will just pay the extra few dollars and get it on installment, what other countries will come up with 1000+ (currency+VAT) up front - I am thinking its possible they will be some decent stock available in the US if you get up early and order

So they're advertising a product that everyone knows will be sold out into 2018 before it's even released? Just proves that Apple is a marketing company first, and a tech company second.

Yes, yes... we ALL know- when you run Apple you’ll make sure that a product has been out for several months & has completely reached supply/demand parity before you ok even the very 1st ad!
That’s soooo very “tech company” of you! I mean, that’s how ALL other tech companies do it, right??
Usually you want to ninja a product out there, hope people hear about it through word of mouth, and only even bother doing an announcement that the product exists after it's obsolete.
Now THAT is how you make sure you stay away from internet ire & never get accused of performing the unseemly “marketing”. *shudder*

/healthy dose of sarcasm

Interesting to see the ad being painted on the side of a building. I didn't know painting ads like that still happened.

Wow, I had no idea the billboards are painted, yet the results look identical to the photos from Apple!
There's a bunch of buildings in Toronto that have painted advertising murals rather than billboards. As someone already said, it probably has to do with getting around municipal bylaws.

Apple frequently uses buildings around Spadina and King for ads like this, going all the way back to the iPod. It's a good way to reach commuters on the streetcar.

If anyone lives in NYC, the Times Square subway station has an entire hallway that goes from 7th to 8th Avenue that has iPhone X ads lined up down the whoooole thing.

I’m excited to preorder. I hope people who did iPhone Upgrade Program have better options :)

I don’t think heavy marketing means that there’s going to be heavy supply... Not one bit.

That's a heavy assumption without any validation. Those who pre-order expeditiously, will likely have a higher chance of receiving their device in a timely fashion. But undoubtedly, this will be a very popular phone for obvious reasons. So naturally they're going to advertise this phone as they rightfully should. But Apple knows the production numbers, you don't.

Type nerds...might be the perspective in the photo, but I find '3 November' still needs to scootch over a bit to the right to visually line up with the 'i' in iPhone.

(I understand the roundness of the '3' needs to 'hang', but not that much)

Would that make the "3 November" centered? at first glance, it looks ok. Always tricky when we're not dealing with monospaced fonts!

Can the painters hide the notch?

I really think it was stingy for Apple to not include faster usb-c charger with freaking 1k phone.

I find it more interesting that you're actually serious.

I haven't noticed an advertisement for another company's product (that's not related to a business in the building) painted on the side of a building for years. In Metro Atlanta, digital billboards seem to be all the rage these days.

I don't see the point in wasting advertising money for the iPhone X if it's going to sell out anyway in a few short minutes.

It looks very cool and these ads are real eye catchers, it looks very futuristic and something new

No, not at all. I'm not suggesting a major shift.

Right now it's not aligning with anything.
It looks like it's trying to align with the 'i' in iPhone, but just needs to slightly over to the right.

edit: 3 November is actually probably centred under the iPhone.

Nevermind... :)
