iPhone X camera locks & won't respond

Many times when I load my camera in iPhone X and choose Photo and try to take a picture, it freezes and will not respond to any touch. Sometimes it happens when I am touching the screen, maybe zooming in or out, or trying to adjust the focus.

Is this a flaw or is there something I am doing that causes this?
