Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I'm taking a close look at iPhone X cases from a wide range of manufacturers. Case reviews aren't often featured on MacRumors, but with the launch of the iPhone X and its entirely revamped design, we felt that it was worth exploring some of the case options out on the market.

This is the third review in the series, with the other two available here and here.

For all of my reviews, I'm looking at the general usability of iPhone X cases. Extreme drop tests and in-depth testing aren't covered because those factors are less important than how a case works on an average day, and it's often fairly easy to tell from design how protective a case is going to be.

Factors like bulk, button accessibility, general protection, grip, thickness, and appearance are what I focused on below.

Nodus

Nodus is known for its line of high-quality leather cases, and its Access Case 3 has been made available for the iPhone X. Priced at £49.99 (~$65), the Access is a folio-style case that's surprisingly slim.

The Access has a simple design that actually holds the iPhone X in place with adhesive that Nodus calls micro suction, with "millions of microscopic suction cups" holding onto the iPhone. The adhesive (or micro suction) doesn't feel particularly sticky when touched and so it doesn't pick up lint and other detritus, but it grips tightly to the glass of the iPhone X.

It would be nice to not just review major manufacturers’ cases, but also some of the better options available on sites like eBay. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $10 for a case, but have had some really good ones over the years. It really is possible to find a good case that doesn’t cost $40+.

The Rokform cases support wireless charging if you remove the magnet (you can still use the clip to mount it places). I have 100% confirmed this with my iPhone X.

I am kind of curious as what Juli's stack of phone cases looks like at this point, and whether repeatedly applying and removing these cases has scratched the stainless steel band on her Silver X

I know they are a little pricey, but I like the cases from Apple. (Not the new folio, though) I used to get the leather, but this time, I went for the silicone and I love it. I got the midnight blue and love the way it looks with the blackened stainless steel edge of the space gray X. It has a really nice feel to it. Feels the way the Apple Watch sport bands feel when they are brand new. Almost velvety. Just feels really good in the hand. I love this case almost as much as the phone! :):D:cool:

Thanks for doing these reviews! There isn’t a good comprehensive set of case reviews like this anywhere else, and like several others above, I’m enjoying the series.

The silicone case doesn’t cover the SS edges? Intriguing. I have a white silicone but haven’t opened it yet. Currently, I’m using my “starter case.” It’s a clear Otterbox Symmetry with a sort of shimmery finish.

Stack of cases is huge. I've actually worried about whether this would scratch my iPhone X because some of these cases are insanely hard to get off, but I don't see any scratches. Unfortunately my thumbs have not come away unscathed. I've got bruises.

But to get the magnet out, you have to take the case off. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to use it that way. You're better off finding something that doesn't inherently impede charging if you want to use wireless charging capabilities.

God these are all awful. Shoutout to the ppl that spend a grand plus and then put it in one of these

Yes, you can only see the edge along the bottom. But, what you can see looks really good with the Midnight Blue color.
I usually have a black case and wasn't sure about that color. But now....:) :D

Ahh... yes. The bottom is open on those. I forgot. It's been awhile since I used one. It does sound really nice, though. That space grey SS would look good with the blue.
