iPhone X Closing App shortcut/gesture

i don’t know if it’s just me but when I had the home button, being able to double click and switching through apps here and also closing the apps by swiping up on the iPhone 8 Plus and before. But is the only way to close apps...holding on the app itself and going and clicking the top left red minus sign?

You can swipe up once the Red x appears. Other than that I’m not sure.

You can hold on it until it shows the red minus sign, then swipe up.
