I couldn't find a proper thread to stick this in, so I created this one in hopes it'll be informative.
Like many of you, I too watched the keynote with dismay seeing the notch on the iPhone X covering videos that were playing. It just occurred to me -- the iPhone X does NOT have a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, most videos are 16:9. The iPhone X will probably even record in 16:9. What does that mean?
You will probably get letterboxing on the left and right sides of videos, just like what happens on the Galaxy S8, Note 8, and other phones with ultra-wide aspect ratios. I'm assuming you can double-tap on the video to fill the screen, just like you can do on iPads while viewing movies (since iPads are 4:3 aspect ratio). So all hope is not lost.
Just an encouraging thought. Cheers.
