This phone has been a hot mess since i got this week, im wondering if there is a setting i need to change to get the power button to turn off the phone...right now im using the floating home button to restart the phone...ios is updated to newest version....the power button will function to turn the display off but thats it, holding it down even longer than normal does nothing
[doublepost=1521550010][/doublepost]never mind, i fixed it...reset the phone and now it's working and so is everything else much better

Volume up, volume down, then press and hold power.

This^^ OR you can press and hold volume up and power at the same time for a few seconds OR volume down and power at the same time for a few seconds.

Holding the power button only will not trigger the shutdown on the X..

Does anybody else think this makes no sense besides me? If it's a power button then function as one, sounds to me like the button is misnamed.

It's goofy for sure but it is what they've done. I rarely power my phone off so it does not really bother me at all..

It's not called a power button. It's called a "Side Button". Others are called "Volume Up" and "Volume Down"

For the X, I believe Apple calls it "Side" Button instead of Power button. But to power off, you can simply hold volume up or with the side button at the same time and you will get the slider. Doing the volume down and side button does the same.

Force restart is push the volume up then release then volume down then release then the side button.
