Hi guys!

Just picked up an X today and love it a lot. I did notice that when I use this wallpaper (possibly others but this is the only one out of about 5 I've tested so far - I also downloaded the full, high-res from the site on my phone) https://unsplash.com/photos/H5Xi6B-1BXc the screen kind of flickers a bit when I return to the home screen from an app. It is specifically the mountains that flicker and it lasts for about a second. What might this indicate? Does this happen to anyone else when you use that image as your wallpaper?

A few clarifications:

- My old 6s plus does not flicker with the same wallpaper
- It happens regardless of whether I have TrueTone on; same with night shift
- It does not happen when unlocking the phone

Any input would be great - I'm mainly wanting to make sure this isn't a hardware issue.

Thanks so much.

I tried that wallpaper on my X and I see the flickering you’re talking about. I’ve had my X since 11/3/17 and have never noticed any other flickering. It’s not a hardware issue.

Thank you for your reply! I'm now thinking that it might be something with the resolution of the image: I am able to replicate the issue with other wallpapers as well, but only if they are extremely high resolution and also if they fit the screen's aspect ratio especially well (i.e. the image is not compromised as much).

Link isn't working but could it be moiré?

OLED, elements of three primary colors are regularly arranged. When laying and moving periodic patterns close to the arrangement of elements in the background, conspicuous stripes called moiré appear. iPhone is designed to give a little perspective to fit the tilt on Parallax Effect, the direction of Moiré will bend. The wallpaper moved with the Parallax Effect returns to the center, somewhat when the movement stops. For that reason it moves for several seconds even if you put the iPhone.
