iPhone X Silver or Space Grey

Having a real hard time deciding.

This is the first time you can get a white/silver back with a black front... so I might switch to silver/white for the first time in 10 years of iPhone usage (well, the first one was only one color...).

Anyways... people have strong feelings either way?

It'll be in a case anyway, so what does it really matter?

I wish the iPhone X was in the Apple Store on 5th ave before I could preorder. Almost all the videos show the silver and not the space gray. I might go for silver as it looks more classic.

With the black front on the X, if I were to get it I’d do silver for a change. Never cared for phones with a white front.

Having dealt with my iPhone 7 Plus Matte Black for a year now, I’m super annoyed by the fingerprint magnet back of the phone. I’m a bit oily so I have to use a case all the time. Otherwise the back just looks plain gross. Another remedy was for me to change my diet and eat healthier, but I don’t know how long that will take..

I went into the Apple Store yesterday to get a hands on look. They both look amazing, and I still couldn’t make up my mind.

Silver is intriguing. But I eventually got tired of the white/silver models I owned in the past. So just relying on that past feeling to guide this decision.

if the grey were black i'd do it, but the gunmetal look doesn't really do it for me.

My decision has been silver since they first announced it. Classic black iPhone front with classic white iPod front for the back. Seen the space gray 8 and lacks that bling-bling. Looks too much like the jet black 7.

The X's main purpose of creation was to celebrate the first iPhone. The 2G also was two-tone and had the silver chrome bezels around it. Imagine it's a tribute when it's technically the 14th iPhone model?

Nobody from afar can recognize you holding the X w/ the camera hump if it's too dark...

Realistically if your not running a clear case your the only one that knows the color of your iPhone.

The back is far from “classic white iPod”. Go look at any silver 8/8+, it’s almost white, but very much a light grey. Put it next to something that is a pure white or classic iPod white and you’ll see a big difference.

The main purpose for the X wasn’t necessarily to be the anniversary iphone. Jony Ive talked about it in an interview.

“Asked whether there was pressure to realize the new design by the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, he agreed that there was, but claimed that ultimately it was a ‘wonderful coincidence.’

Well (laugh) just for the design team and engineer team! If you try to do a good job, there is always pressure. I understand that what is expected is a change, but what we are trying to keep in mind is always to do the best job, as much as possible.

[Given the years taken to develop the iPhone X] it was a truly wonderful coincidence.”

The short of it is, it took many years to develop the X, and was just a coincidence to fall on the 10 year mark.

I find getting the same black color over and over a little depressing. I remember checking out the HTC One M8 and the gun metal grey just looks depressing compared to the gold or red variants. Then get the same black color only to cover it up with a black colored case.

My fashion was also very limited 15 years ago because black is my favorite color followed by red and white. Now I wear shirts in orange with black markings and different shades of blue. Diversify.

Silver X is the first iPhone with a black front/white back iPhone since the 3Gs. The first as a glass sandwich and with a metal band around which harks back to 2007-2009. Chrome bezel didn't exist on the 4/4s.

Anybody seen the Pixel 2 XL ad for Verizon? Panda color looks sweet. Two-tone rules. My favorite phone design of all-time, HTC One M7 (glacial silver) was two-tone. Looked cleaner than the matte black M7.

Silver or white always hides fingerprints 10x better than darker colors. Black M7 didn't have that bling-bling chamfered edges either.
