iPhone X Slow "Loading"/"waiting" restore?

Hi All,

Has anyone else had extremely slow loading.../waiting... when restoring? I just updated to an iPhoneX, tried a restore from a mac backup and wifi. In either case, soo many of my apps are either loading or waiting. its been hours. I have a great wifi connection etc. Any tricks or issues I need to know about?
