The name of my iPhone X (for now, until I give it over to my wife) is: Eric's iPhone X
That's how it appears in Settings>General>About

However, when I look at the iCloud storage screen, the backup name shows up with a bunch of random characters. I did delete the backup and redo it - same issue.

I have a feeling that the apostrophe is causing the issue but just wanted to see if anyone else could confirm this?

Here's a screen shot:

Rename the phone without the apostrophe.
Thank you for the response. I was more interested to see if this was happening just with my iCloud backups and my phone, or other people's as well.

Do you have an apostrophe in your iPhone's name? If so, how does your backup name show? If you DON'T have the apostrophe, would you mind adding one...then running an iCloud back up...and checking to see if the characters are there?

I know it's a stupid and minor problem, I'm just trying to figure out the cause and if it's with just my phone or others as well.

The other Apple user in my house refuses to move to iOS 11, otherwise I'd just test on his.

As much as I would like to help, I am away from a computer till late today.

Hoping it's just a bug and not some kind of glitch with my iCloud backup data that I'm going to have to contact Apple about

No idea. Nothing is wrong or corrupted. Just the device name is jumbled with symbols. I even changed the device name but still prevails. Happened on X and iPad pro 10.5.

Your iPhone icon next to it blank as well? What version of iOS

Phone and iPad icon is not blank. They're fine. I'm on 11.1 but this goes back to late iOS 10 builds as well. Like I said, no issues with backups; only device description.
So you think this is just a bug then? Have you tried a fresh install from iTunes or anything?

No way I'm doing a fresh install for that. It's just a bug in the naming string. Not worth the trouble.
May I ask how you have your devices named? I’m curious to see if our device names have any similarities and if we could find which set of characters causes it. It’s like a puzzle. I’m kind of interested now. Lol

Example: iPad Pro 10.5 that's what I used.

Anyone else notice this?

Yup. Started when I got the X. You know what else started with the X? This —> I️

May be related. I deleted the backup the first time I saw it like that because I didn’t know if it was corrupted. Came back the same way again.

I do have an appstrophe in my name, at the end.

Doing a local backup as well just in case.

Thanks for responding. What do you mean by "---> I"

This happened to a buddy of mine. I'll ask him what ended up happening. I think something with his account was wrong or something with the serial number of the device.
