iPhone X to be announced on Tuesday

It seems that the moniker iPhone X is confirmed. The other iPhones may be called iPhone 8 or 7S but the new bezel-less design without home button will be named iPhone X according to this leak from the Netherlands

I don't see this is as confirmation of anything. But I can guarantee you the confirmation will come Tuesday. Even so, "iPhone X" very well could be a possibility.

There was a take down notice and the original photo is no longer available... usually a take down notice is not for fakes, or at least not necessary if the information is false
 
It's a fake box, most likely created by the carrier itself. The carrier is called KPN ("the biggest provider of telecommunications and IT services in the Netherlands"), it even mentions the name on the photo itself. If you look at the gradient on the box, it's made up of the same colours as the colours on the KPN logo.

The title iphone X will be saved for the iPhone 10 since it makes complete sense so please stop using it.

Roman Numeral X = 10

No need to change the sequential number series for a 10th anniversary. Otherwise just call it "Edition or iPhone 8"

Maybe people will "chill" when threads stop being created to announce things presented as facts. When they are nothing more than yet another rumour.

I don't think you understand marketing. This iPhone is categorically different than any iPhone before it. It is also launching next to two new lesser models. It needs a new marketing term to differentiate it and draw attention to it. Let me give you an example headline for September 12th from major news publishers (aka fake news):

'Apple announces the new iPhone 8'

'Apple announces the new iPhone X'

Which one gets more attention? X. People expect the next iPhone to be the next number. They expect incremental changes like the past 2 iPhones have given, and thus intelligent marketing would be to slap everyone in the face with a new marketing term to get them to find out what's different, why it has a different name.

The tread did not say FACTUAL but rather pointed to a news article and picture. Anyone can judge for him/herself.

Again, just chill or otherwise start reading press releases when products are finally announced.
 
Here is a theory for you all.

Apple is leaking fake info so idiots suck on it like a tit. While real iphone will simply have 4 speakers instead of 2.

Chew on that for awhile.

It makes much more sense to use X for something special like a redesign on the 10th anniversary of the iPhone than it does to just throw an X in there instead of a 10. iPhone 8, iPhone 9, iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12.....

I'm not saying whether they'll call it X on Tuesday, just there's more logic behind using it this way.

I don't always agree but this makes a lot of sense.
