iPhone Iphone X- Trouble hearing me over BT in car

Hi all,
Ever since getting the X on release day everyone has trouble hearing me in the car over Blue Tooth. They say I sound like I'm under water. Once I go to speaker or to the phone itself they say it goes away.

Any idea what could be causing this to happen?

Driving me nuts. Pun intended.
