Randomly over the last week my iPhone XR is getting very very hot since upgrading to iOS 14, usually after using carplay but now it just happened randomly.

Battery dropping fast so clearly its rogue process going on....anyone else? (I also upgraded to 14.0.1)

iPhone XS Max here, doing the same thing. It's like having one of those hand warmers in my pocket. Upgrading to 14.0.1 did not help. Nothing stands out in the battery usage monitor. At first I thought it was the Ford Pass app because it was using battery like crazy in the background a few days ago. Today it's the Sonos app. Closed all apps and it seemed to get hotter so I turned it off.

I ended up quitting all apps....confirmed with a buddy that it seems its possibly the messages app going rogue and causing it to heat up. After that the phone cooled down.

Not noticed any issues on my XR.
Had iOS 14 since release and 14.0.1 upgrade since yesterday.
I never close apps and haven’t noticed either excessive battery drain or it heating up.
As has been mentioned already a backup and restore solves a lot of these issues, it may be worth trying that.
