I have't kept up with all of the XR threads so I just noticed the XR doesn't use a micro-SIM. I bought two from Apple (outright purchases). They will be Christmas gifts. I guess we'll have to take a trip to AT&T before the phones can be used?

What phones are you swapping from?

Thanks! I started wondering when I saw this info listed -

iPhone XR is not compatible with existing micro-SIM cards

I was thinking the previous model used a micro-SIM. Now I see those haven't been used since the 4.

Microsims haven't been a thing with iPhones for a very long time. You will need nano sims. If you are coming from anything recent, it will be a straight swap.

Anything >iPhone 5 uses nano sims.

Not really. If you have a SIM cutter that is fine but have seen many SIM card ruined from user attempts to cut them down.
That's what I meant. Find a friend with a cutter or buy a cheap one on Amazon. It's cheap and easy to do. No need to ever involve the carrier.
