iPhone XS Max Brightness Issue

Hi guys!

So when my phone is locked and I pick it up to unlock it, my display brightness is very low and when I try to change it to a higher brightness, nothing happens, it just stays on that low brightness no matter how high the brightness slider is. To make it go bright again I have to press my lock button on and off twice to fix this problem.

• The brightness is not lowering because of overheating as it is in room temperature.
• I was advised by someone to turn off automatic brightness to solve the problem but i did not have this issue with automatic brightness on, on my previous iPhone X.
• I am now trying updating to iOS 14,3 from 14,2
• I will also try a reset and clean iOS install soon if the 14,3 update does not solve the issue.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is it hardware related? I got this phone Amazon renewed so there is a chance that the screen was replaced.

I have the same issues as well on my XS. It’s been doing it since iOS 13 and I’ve just grown to live with it. When I pick up my phone, my brightness will be super low and then it’ll just jump back to normal. It may be because I got a screen replacement on my XS this past year but it’s hard to say for sure. It’s strange regardless, though, because I received a genuine Apple display since BestBuy replaced it.
