My wife has an old iPhone XS which she wants to give our 11y/o daughter as a first phone.
My wife asked about a new battery, so I said I’d ask various places to see how much they’d charge.
Just now my wife has said about “getting it refurbished”. Given that the phone is cosmetically in very good condition, and everything works, I asked what she meant. She then read out from a website, which said they’d do various things such as battery replacement (which it does need), replace damaged parts (it doesn’t have any) and perform ‘diagnostics’.
I said it just needs a new battery and then I’d do a factory restore on it, but she’s adamant she wants it “refurbished”. Apparently one of her friends had it done…
Surely it just needs what I said, and doesn’t need someone doing what I deem are unnecessary things, and charging accordingly? I think my wife might be getting drawn in by company’s advertising, and thinking it’s gospel.
Thoughts?
