iPhone XS iPhone XS vs. XS MAX Camera... exactly the same...?

Looking at a few tech comparisons online, it seems they're the same, but I've been under the impression I read somewhere that the XS Max has a better camera... I always got the larger size phone because of the better camera, but this time I'd like to try the smaller size...

Does anyone know for 100% sure if the XS and XS Max cameras take the exact same quality photos...? And video?

I'm not going to use anything for VR, or 3d whatever, just the best vacation photos possible with an iPhone, and it can't wait till the new ones come out.

Any input on this by those who know for sure would be greatly appreciated.
