Wife's iphone12. Brand new. Was setup from scratch. I created an .m4r file for her to use as a ringtone - this is on my 16" MBP running Catalina 10.15.7. Now how do I get it on the Phone?

Now this would be easy if I can get it onto my phone via the regular route - i.e. connect the iPhone to my Mac. However, that's where my problem is. When I connect the iPhone to my Mac (using the apple cable it came with), it asks me to trust and once past that - all I see in Finder is the "restore iPhone" button. I don't see the various tabs, incl. General, etc. I also tried on my PC running Windows 10 + iTunes latest - same issue - there I get a dialog saying the phone may need to be restored (or reset?) since iTunes is unable to read from it.

She has already setup her phone, so I really don't want to mess with it with a restore. In the meanwhile, how do I get an m4r file to the phone and set as a ringtone? I tried emailing it/imessaging it, and while that works to open the file on the iPhone, I cannot seem to get it to appear on the Ringtones option under general->sounds and haptics menu.

Please help!
