I just bought an iphone 3g that is jailbroken and unlocked from my old boss at work. I have my old tmobile sim card in it from my pay as you go basic (non-smartphone) phone account. The whole smartphone concept is new to me. I have several issues I'm seeing with the phone:
1. At work, I was able to finally connect to the wifi, but when I tried to set up my yahoo mail account, it wasn't working. I couldn't connect to work email either.
2. At home, I wasn't able to connect to my netgear router. When I entered the password, it failed. I'm pretty sure this is the right password because it's the one my computer guy uses when he fixes my computer.
My plan is to eventually use PureTalk $10/month plan with the phone. This comes with 10 data/month. I'm waiting for the sim card in the mail.
If you have any info you need, please let me know where I can find it on my phone. Settings->xxx->...
My old boss said that he would give me my $ back if the phone isn't doing what I want it to do, but I'm still hoping it's possible. PureTalk can be cancelled at any time.
Thanks,
Michele
PS. As an update:
I figured out how to enter my IP address for my router on the internet, login with my info, and get the key. It turns out the iPhone was looking for the key, not the password. So now I have to figure out the email stuff.
