Hey all
Friend got his iPhone4 stolen this afternoon, has iOS5 and Find my iPhone installed/activated. We have reported this to the police, etc. However, we're trying hard on our end to find it too. Have a few questions..

1) He has Find my iPhone, but the device isn't showing up in the iCloud service. Is this because it isn't set up on the phone? His phone is off, so I thought it might be that, but mine seems to work when the phone is off...

2) Can we call Apple and mark the Serial# as stolen?

3) Anything else proactive we can do?

Yeah, that's the fear..

Seems dumb you can still turn off the phone with a passcode. You think that'd help deter thefts...

All it takes is for them to put it into airplane mode also.

Lost my iphone 4, filed a police report, nothing ever happened.

So I bought a 4S.

I know your pain.

Yeah, hopes aren't high. Although this is the second phone to be stolen, maybe his luck will change :p

I think Find My Phone was updated so you can be notified by email with the location when the phone is turned on. Can anybody confirm?

Edit: Ok, I just tested with my iPad at home, which apparently has Location Services disabled. I sent a message to it and I got a message that I will receive an email when the iPad receives the message, of course, this will only happen if Location Services is enabled.
