I have the trial FCPX and a new iPhone4s.

What is the best workflow for getting the videos into FCPX on a MacPro.

I have tried Preview, iPhoto and Aperture.

Is there a good, better, best method?

Straight through Final Cut is the fastest way, I agree. If you want to get your hands on the files first though, Image Capture is the fastest way to get the files off your iPhone outside of Final Cut.

Some people like to organize their files in a certain way. There are also other programs that one might want to use. Having a central location for the footage is then an advantage.

A BIG apology for my ignorance

I must be the dumbest *ss.

Over the years I have used a Sony DSR11 to ingest mini DV tapes and then a P2 card reader to ingest into FCS.

I never thought of the iPhone as a camera. But in FCPX there is---import from iPhone---in the Import dropdown menu.

Thanks for enlightening me.

I wonder why FCP X does not let me create a camera archive from the 4S like I can with SDHC cards. Anyone know why?

That's nice but how do you import iPhone 4 videos that are no longer on the iPhone (i.e., from Aperture library). It's retarded that a question this basic requires a trip to the user forums.
