Not hidden in the specs but.. PassBook clearly gives away the fact that NFC will likely make its way into the iPhone 5
Not saying you're wrong but PassBook could be easily implemented without NFC by just using barcode or QR code displays.
It could, in the same way there are apps that work like that now, but I'd say the probability of NFC is very high. It's likely to take off soon and Apple won't want to miss out on their cut.
