Just discovered something odd last night, I covered the bottom right of the iPhone5 and no sound was produced.

I always thought there were two speakers on the bottom, a-la iPhone4/s

Is there no speaker by the earplug port on the iPhone5?

There is 1 speaker on the device. Not exactly sure how you can tell if sound is coming out of one side and not the other, but even if your analysis is correct it really doesn't matter because there is only 1 speaker.

Shown here. We get this question all the time.

How do these questions still come up though?! It seems like it takes more effort to go to MacRumors, click New Thread, Type out your post & wait for a reply, than to simply type "iPhone one speaker not working" into Google...

Work smarter, not harder, people!

BTW, if you just type "iPhone one" into Google, it's the first result. Then it brings you to MacRumors where this question has been asked & answered over 12 times.

On the subject of the speaker, anyone know if there is any mesh on the inside of those speaker holes what would stop lint/fluff getting into the phone?

Looked on iFixIt and couldn't see

Yes, there's mesh. Shined a flashlight in there's definitely mesh inside.
