Every time I open iPhoto 09 it starts doing a scan of all my pics for Faces and this is taking up to 300 minutes!! It has already completed this scan twice - why does it keep doing it?

Anyone?

Has anyone else noticed this? Once the scan is complete do I have to do something to save it?

Mine went the over 4,000 photos in about 30 minutes the first time, then has been a quick start since then. Dunno what is up with your iPhoto.

Thanks

I guess my 15,000 photos is killing it! Hopefully it wont do this scan every time I open iPhoto!!

I have over 20,000. It took about 6 hours to scan first time, but it's fine now.

Try repairing permissions on your iphoto library (hold option+command while you start).

I just installed iLife today. I have a little over 8,000 photos and it has been scanning for more than 6 hours, and if I believe the little status bar it's less than 5% done. Is there something I can do to fix this at this rate its going to take days maybe weeks for it to scan my 8000 photos.
