iPhoto '11: adding a new place

Is it just me or is adding a new place in iPhoto '11 very cumbersome? I used to open the manage my places drop down, search for it in the google search, add the pin and increase/decrease the area as needed.

The only way I can see to add a place is in the tiny little info box in the bottom right and even then you can't move the pin at all. It's a really pain.

Option-click and drag in the map view to move the pin around.

You can still change the region if you go into the My Places window.

What sucks is that there's no way to add a new place in the My Places window. The only way to do it is in that tiny little box in the sidebar. I don't know why that was removed. The window is exactly the same now, just without the search box.
