iPhoto 11 has missing photos

I have photos in events in Iphoto 11 stored on my Macbook Pro.
But now I have deleted them off my memory card, and I now have
8 different events where I can see the photos, but can't open them,
or export or save them in any way. When I open them I get a
huge ?. I have installed the latest update for iPhoto 11.

Has anyone experienced this with iPhoto 11?

For some reason iPhoto can't find the photos you imported. What you are seeing are just previews created by iPhoto.

If you can find the name of one of the photos try searching for it. Usually people either have iPhoto set up to copy photos into iPhoto (you haven't) or import the photos into their Pictures folder. So look there.

It's also possible you just imported them from a card without copying them, which means that you deleted your only copies. DO NOT put the card back in your camera or do anything with it, and get a copy of CardRescue or equivalent and see if you can resurrect the photos. Odds are you'll be able to if you haven't used the card for anything in the meantime.
