iPhoto '11 Photo Resizing?

Hi everyone - Loving my new rMBP so far, but can someone explain to me why suddenly some of my photos fill up the screen when I double click on them and some of them are medium sized or tiny? Is this a glitch with iPhoto 11? In previous versions of iPhoto, when I would double click on a photo, no matter the resolution, it would always fill up the box so there wasn't any blank space above or below the photo. This is very annoying. Do I need to re-upload my library from a time machine back up or something? Any help would be most appreciated.
