can anyone with a copy of iPhoto 5 test this for me?

there is this annoying problem with iPhoto 4 (and possibly earlier versions) where the application "remembers" the time zone. for example, if i have a pic in iPhoto taken at 10am in EST, if i change the Mac's system time zone to PST, the pic's time stamp turns into 7am.

to me this is really, really stupid as i don't care to associate time zone to my pictures - if i took a pic at 10am in one time zone, i don't care to know what time that was in another. the picture was taken at 10am of the day i took it and that's the association i want to keep.

anyway, i was wondering if this time zone association has been decoupled in iPhoto 5 or not. if someone can test it out, i'd appreciate it.

(and i will be writing to apple about this...)

I've just tried it and pictures I took at 5pm GMT seem to stay at 5pm in iPhoto 5 regardless of which time zone I tell my Mac I'm in.

I've tried both pictures where my camera attached a date and ones I've changed manually.

Then again, I never noticed there being a problem in iPhoto 4.
