iPhoto 8.1.2 and Yosemite.

I am enjoying the Yosemite for the past 1 month. However, I have iPhoto 8 and of course, it doesn't open in Yosemite.

Will apple allow one time import of pics from iPhoto to Photos with full release in 2015 or I must purchase iPhoto 9 for me to view/import the old pics? If I buy iPhoto 9 now with Yosemite installed, will it automatically upgrade and import the old pics?
