So, I want to get iPhoto 9.2 installed for the Photo Stream feature, and I know that it's not compatible with the old iPhoto library, but is there any way I can extract the entire contents of my current library, events intact, and import them into the new iPhoto?

I'm not sure. I just tested with imported pics. I was not too worried about events, faces, etc. I'm pretty sure when 9.2 is out of beta it will not require a separate library.
