I bought my first Mac this week and I'm moving all of my files over to it. Because of my lack of knowledge I've run into a slight problem using iPhoto. I imported over 8,000 pictures from an external hard drive directly into iPhoto not realizing they would not be accessible in a traditional file structure.
From what I've read it seems like the ideal way to do the import would have been to drag all my original folders over to the "Pictures" folder on the Mac then import certain folders into iPhoto. Is this correct? I would also want to preserve the original file structure of the photos I import. This has to do with the option to make a copy of the files in the iPhoto library right? What should I select?
Lastly, is there any way to accomplish this without deleting everything and doing the transfer over from scratch? Thanks!
