Hi guys

Had iPhones for yrs but new to the world of Apple beyond that - first Mac arrived today!

So, by way of background: both me and the wife have iPhones, both having our own individual iCloud accounts - so far so good. We then have a joint Gmail address which we use as our iTunes ID.

Both phones (hers in particular) were getting bogged down with photos so the first thing we did today was upload the pics from both phones to iPhoto and delete everything off our phones.

I'm really just trying to get my head around how all of this works so i'll probably fire questions off at random throughout this thread and use it as my own personal knowledge base to revert back to.

So, we've uploaded say 2000 pics between us to iPhoto. I think my first few questions are:

1) Not that I want to do anything with them, but where exactly are these photo's stored now? i.e. are they taking up space on my hard drive somewhere (haven't quite found my way around yet) or have they been beamed up to the beautiful cloud somewhere?

2) On the left hand side of iPhoto, I see under the 'shared' header there's iCloud with 1400 photo's under 'my photo stream'. Which iCloud ID will this be linked to; one of our own individual ones or the family iTunes account?

3) If we've got 2000 pics in our library, why are there only 1400 showing within my photo stream?

4) Does iPhoto store videos? I'm having a horrible realisation that I can't see any and we've both now wiped our iPhones!

I think that'll do for now, plenty more to follow though i'm sure!!

Muchas gracias,

Kev
