I recently upgraded a friends Macbook 2.4 GHZ 2009 from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3 and then to 10.6.8 using a retail SL disk and then Apple Software upgrade. The macbook already had iPhoto 7.1.5 installed along with the rest of iLife '08. I copied the iPhoto library to a USB drive to be safe and when the upgrade was done all files were there....other than the iPhoto library. I thought that would not be a problem as I had a copy of the library. I tried importing it...nothing. Then I tried copying the file directly to the iPhoto folder...nothing. Nothing as in iPhoto would not open it or have it grayed out.
I next used iPhoto Library Manager to move the file. That looked like it worked, but the actual photos are not there. The files seem to be there, but the pictures are not visible, the thumbnails are just black squares. Next I used iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. That mostly worked, about 50% of the photos are there now. I can open almost all of the photos in Preview, all but about 30. There are a total of 921 photos.
Any ideas on how to get these photos into iPhoto?
