Hi, is there any way to stop iPhoto recognizing my camera and opening whenever I plug it in.

Off-topic but how do I keep max osx to remember to spell check the title bar.

I think it's somewhere in iPhoto preferences.

Go to the Image Capture Application in the Applications folder with your camera plugged in. This app dictates what happens when you plug in your camera so this should be what you're looking for.
