iPhoto back up from iPhone

Are pics from the iPhone supposed to automatically go straight to iPhoto when you back up/sync. It was synced and backed up, but it's showing iPhone pics up to September 2012, but nothing from last few back ups. Only just noticed it's not syncing? Any idea please
 
Yeh, thanks for moving this. My last two in iPhone troubleshooting forum don't get answered, so wanted to ask in Mac Basics where they do tend to answer. iPhoto is not iPhone related, just the phone bit!!
