iphoto backup export hangs?

Hello,

I try to backup my iphoto library by exporting the entire library, but it ends up hanging after half or so of the photos have hanged.... just stops exporting... I've tried this twice...

how best to backup an iphoto library? how to avoid the hanging?

is there any other way to backup an iphoto library besides exporting through iphone?

Copy the iPhoto Library from ~/Pictures to an external? Set up Time Machine if you have 10.5 or 10.6?
