iPhoto bloated? Too many photos beach balls mine!

Anyone else experience the beachball in iPhoto when you have a lot of photos in iPhoto?

I'm getting lock ups, freezing, and have to force quit often these days. Time to export to external HDD I guess?

This may sound stupid but mine lagged a lot until I upgraded to 8gb ram. I have 20,000 photos in my iphoto and it runs very well after the upgrade

Thanks for your reply, that's the thing, I too have 8GB of RAM, so unsure what maybe the issue Im experiencing. Not sure how many photos I have in my iPhoto, but I know its in the thousands.

could be a cache need clearing out,also,dont display them fully enlarged ,ie reduce to smallest size with slider etc,and dont use slider with too many loaded either,will beachball for me,ive got bout 4k at the moment in iphoto.

Ok, thanks, will give that ago, I have cleared it out now though, and sorting out my facebook, and flickr web connections, lost a few pics in doing so.
